About Us
Joey's Wish, Inc is a legacy nonprofit that honors an amazing man whose life was taken by addiction. Devastated and unwilling to sit back and let these abusive substances continue to take the lives of the next generations to come, Joey's friends and family have vowed to raise as much money and awareness as possible to fund the research that will stop addiction at its source in the human brain.
We believe that addiction is like a light switch in the brain. Once it is flipped to the "on" position, it is nearly impossible to switch "off". Through rehabilitation, therapy, medication, spiritual practice, and lifestyle changes it is possible for it to turn into a "dimmer switch" where the cravings can be overcome or managed through healthy coping mechanisms throughout life. We argue that there is not enough research to cure addiction at the source and that is our mission. We aspire to raise awareness, funds, and in the future contribute to the research that seeks to turn off the light switch permanently and break the cycle of addiction at the source. We ask that you contribute and come along with us on the journey to turning off the light.
